Don't Get Taken For A Ride

Author: David Atkin

Looking for your first classic car, or muscle car to buy, can be a daunting task, with all the shady car salesmen and internet scammers out there, it can be almost impossible to trust anybody, it's a huge investment of your time and money, and at times even your sanity, simply because you don't always know the people who you'll be dealing with.

It hard to trust a person who you've never met to be a good business man and a reputable dealer, but there are some things that you can do to make the process a lot easier, for starters, learn all you can about the car that you want to buy, if you're a original factory car type of person, then make sure that you do some studying on the make and model of car that your looking for, know what options that it was available with from the factory.

Know what options were special orders only, be aware of the colors that the car was available in, what interior packages that it was available with, and know the different engine sizes that were available in the car, what I'm really saying here is learn the history of the particular car that you'd like to purchase, be sure to ask if the car has been restored, and who it was restored by, ask a lot of question about the car, and don't let the salesman lead you, let him know that you have studied about the car and learned all you could.

Next you'll wan to be sure to check up on the company's reputation that you're going to buy the car from, check with the "Better Business Bureau" and when you do, make sure to ask if the company or the owner has had a claim filed against them with the "BBB", be sure to check with the city and local government where the business is located to see if any claims have been filed with them, check with the chamber of commerce in the city where the business is, if the company is reputable then they won't mind you checking up on them.

They may even tell you who the local agencies are for you to check with, because if their not a shady dealer who's trying to run a scam, they will be proud of that fact, and they will be glad to let you check on them, although most of the classic car dealers aren't scammers, your much better off to protect yourself from anything bad happening to you.

I'm going to tell you about some dealers I know to be reputable, and you can either take my word for it, or check up on them before you buy your car. I have done the checking into on these companies.
