Fun at Baby Showers

Author: Kim Anderson

Baby games to add zing to your baby shower celebrations! Games are fun and add excitement to any festivity. Besides that, they are a great way of letting your hair loose and getting a chance of familiarizing with the other guests and being at ease with one another.

Word Power

All the players are asked to write two names which they would like to suggest for the new arrival on a piece of paper. The aim is to make as many words as possible from the letters of those two suggested names by each guest. The guests should target at making as many words as possible.

The players must be told that each new word which they form from the letters of the names must have a minimum of three letters.

To add more zing to the game ask the players not to reveal the suggested names! Let the other players guess the names by seeing the constructed words!

Example: PeterXDaisy

Pat! Pete! Tear! Year! Say!

Transferring!

Have two bowls of different sizes in front of each player. Put cotton balls in the bigger bowl. The object of the game is to transfer cotton balls from one bowl to another with the help of a spoon. To make it more challenging blindfolds all the players! The weight of the cotton ball is sure to deceive them as to many balls have been scooped. The player who transfers maximum number of balls in half a minute is declared winner.

Sorting!

Another game to be played blindfolded! Take a bowl, fill it half with uncooked rice. Add a few safety pins to it ( ensure that the pins are closed properly). This game is to be played one by one. The player blindfolds himself and tries to sort out as many safety pins from the rice in half a minute. The similarity in the physical texture is sure to be challenging!

It's yesterday once more!

All the guests are asked to carry their own baby photos to the celebration. At the celebration, these photos are handed over to chosen person, who in turn marks them and puts an identity mark on each photo. The person ensures that no damage is done to the photos as they are treasured items.

The game begins! Each player is given a piece of paper and a pen. The object is to identify each photo and write the answer on the paper. At the end, the right answers are given and the winner is the one who has most correct guesses.

These are just a few suggestions for games which could be organized to make your Baby Shower celebration an event to be remembered and cherished for years to come and at the same time help your guests get acquainted with each other.
