Breast Reduction

Author: Adnan Muzzaffar

Many women dream of having huge breasts. However, having huge breasts that is not proportionate to the body can cause many problems. Huge breasts can be the cause of neck, shoulder, back and blood circulation problem in the body. As a solution to this, a woman can undergo breast reduction treatment.

Breast reduction treatment is a surgical procedure to remove fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breast. Breast reduction is done to decrease the size of pendulous breast of certain women. However, breast reduction can also be used to cure the problem of dropping breasts. Similar to breast augmentation, this operation is very common among women.

Usually, the weight of the breast bothers its owner. However, sometimes this is not the case. The disproportion of the breast makes women feel awkward. Breast reduction will give women new smaller, firmer and lighter breasts than they had before. Reduction of the size of the nipples or areola can also be arranged by the doctors.

Breast reduction is usually done on fully developed breasts. It is not advisable for women who are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed to undergo this treatment, as it will remove some of the glandular tissue. Apart from that, the scars will make it almost impossible to breastfeed a baby. It can be very painful to do so.

After the breast reduction surgery, patients may require a few weeks to recover. However, this is just the initial step towards recovery. The body will recover completely within the duration of six months to a year. As the body needs to adapt to the new breast size, some women might experience discomfort, especially during their menstruation. This is because of the breast swelling they experience during normal days, will be heightened after the breast reduction procedure.

Scars resulting from breast reduction procedure can be very hideous at first. It will be red and lumpy after the operation. However, the scars will reduce after sometime and will continue fading. However, this may vary. To some people, the scar can be permanent and extensive.

The price of breast reduction is cheaper than breast augmentation. The cost is approximately USD 2560. However, this is not a standard price for breast reduction. Some medical institutions will charge higher fees according to the reputation and the skill of their cosmetic surgeons. Hence, do some research in order to get the best out of what you are paying for.
