Hurricanes and Happiness

Author: Lance Winslow

Hurricanes can be very damaging to the human psyche especially for those who have lost everything in a major category storm. We saw many people along the Gulf Coast of the United States of America who had lost everything due to the storm surge and the high winds. When stuff like this happens it can take its toll and cause depression and this can have a severe impact on the human immune system.

Hurricanes do not promote happiness unless you are one of the people whose house was still standing when you came back and then you are happy your home is still there are, but you are depressed because you no longer have a job because your business was destroyed and your neighbors homes were destroyed.

It is essential in your life to maintain a good sense of humor and all the while allow the adversity to build additional human character to help reinforce your strength of character. Happiness is so important that it was listed in our Constitution and we have the right to pursue happiness and our forefathers understood this.

You should understand this too and understand you have the right to pursue happiness. But in order to achieve happiness you must look at the bright side of things or you will become cynical. Please consider all this in 2006.
