With all the dead aircraft parked in the middle of the desert slowly rotting away, it would make more sense to use them for aluminum mining and try to salvage as much as possible from them. Every manufacturer should make lists of all the types of materials on each aircraft; special alloys, electronic components, composites, vinyl and plastics for possible use or to be melted down or recycled.

There is already a system set up that lists all the large engine parts and airframe parts so when airlines all over the world need a part they can send for it. Many aircraft parts brokers make big money working with old aircraft parts and finding obscure parts for aircraft owners all over the world.

There are many aircraft sitting in the desert where there are none flying of that model and those if we do not need them for museums should be completely recycled rather than allowing their low-humidity high-heat desert sun to slowing decay them and allow them to corrode into oblivion.

Sure it will take them longer to corrode out there in the desert, although some years do get more rain than others. But we need not beat our heads against the wall digging all these raw materials out of the ground when there are giant hunks of aviation grade aluminum there for the taking or recycle mining if you will.
